I joined Huffington’s OfftheBus citizen journalists to participate in reporting on the 2008 presidential campaign. I was able to write a few articles and attend one of the first presidential debates before the primary.obamabiden

Richard Roeper, Chicago Sun-Times columnist, commented on being asked to submit a post to Huffington’s Chicago blog. “To me, though, once you’ve set your rate at nada, you’ve started down a dangerous Slip ‘n Slide.”

That may be true. However, although we bloggers write for free, HP has become a recognized liberal blog that is certainly an active part of today’s news media. And we get to meet other writer-types to discuss issues of the day. It’s a bit of recognition for those of us who are not daily columnists at a major newspaper.
