Me in brief

Hello! I’m a freelance journalist and photographer who has enjoyed a professional career in all forms of media.WGN News Studio

I am fortunate to be working for The Conservation Foundation as a photographer and media consultant. As a long-time member, I am thrilled to be able to get the word out on conservation and environmental issues, and to let people know the many wonderful things this organization does.

I also provide technical support to Prairie State Conservation Coalition, which is made up of land conservancies throughout Illinois. I provide support for the Coalition’s Hike App and maintain their website and Facebook page.

I returned to Chicago radio news from June, 2014 to September, 2015, back on the air for the fine folks at WGN radio 720. It was a thrill to return to radio and work with many of the superb talent I knew from previous radio jobs. I still feel a great commitment to news and informing the public on what’s happening that affects us all.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Roosevelt University in Chicago, and immediately took a job as news director at a suburban radio station that played only show tunes (really!).

After stints in suburban radio in the news departments at WAUR/WMRO Aurora and WJOL Joliet, I was fortunate enough to join the newsroom at the Satellite News Network, an innovative venture for its time providing satellite programming to more than 600 radio stations nationwide. SMN is now ABC Radio Networks.

Next stop was the Chicago market where I anchored the news for WLS-AM, WGN-AM and at WBBM Newsradio, sharing the microphone with some of Chicago’s top news talent. I briefly returned to the “news ranch” in 2010 as a fill-in news writer.

I entered the public relations field in media at Brookfield Zoo, as PR director at Blackburn College, and as head of public information at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, where I was able to combine my media experience with my love of conservation and environmental issues.

I was editor of a local newspaper, The Farmside, and have been published in several area newspapers including the Chicago Sun-Times, the Daily Herald, and Beacon News.

In the community, I’ve been involved in Rotary as a member of the Wheaton and Geneva clubs, last serving as president of the Rotary Club of Geneva in 2009-10. Rotary is involved with local fundraising for area charities and scholarships, something I continue to support.

I am a member of the American Association of University Women, where I served as communications director on the state board.
