Sandy is a regular contributor to the Batavia, Geneva and St. Charles Patch.com online news sites owned by AOL/Huffingtonpost.

She graduated from Roosevelt University in Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and took a job as a news director at a suburban radio station that played only show tunes (really!).

After stints in the news departments at WAUR/WMRO Aurora and WJOL Joliet, she joined the newsroom at the Satellite News Network, an innovative venture for its time providing satellite programming to more than 600 radio stations nationwide. She made her way to the Chicago market where she was heard on the airwaves for WLS-AM, WGN-AM and at WBBM Newsradio, where she shared the microphone with some of Chicago’s top news talent. She briefly returned to the “news ranch” in 2010 as a fill-in news writer.

Her work in public relations includes media at Brookfield Zoo, PR director at Blackburn College, and head of public information at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, where she combined her media experience with her love of conservation and environmental issues.

She worked as the editor of a local newspaper, The Farmside, and has been published in several area newspapers including the Chicago Sun-Times, the Daily Herald, and Beacon News. Sandy is a contributor for HuffingtonPost.com after participating in its Off the Bus election coverage during the 2008 campaign.

Sandy is past-president of the Rotary Club of Geneva, involved with local fundraising for area charities and scholarships. She also volunteers at the Geneva History Center as a storyteller for the Spirit Pub Crawl and Ghost Walks.

She is a member of The Conservation Foundation and American Association of University Women, where she served as communications director on the state board.
